The housing crisis and increased cost of living shows the government is failing Tower Hamlets, an MP has warned.
Poplar and Limehouse MP Jim Fitzpatrick urged the government to consider a “new direction” in light of the country’s continued economic woes.
“People in my constituency see a government without direction and a country where things are getting worse not better”, he said.
“This will be a lost decade without a change. We need a new direction, we need new policies and, in reality, we need a new government.”
Wages in Tower Hamlets are an average of 13 per cent lower than in 2008, while unemployment remains stubbornly high, he warned.
