A government adviser who helped instruct the coalition on its controversial ‘troubled families’ programme has been hired by Tower Hamlets Council.
Robert McCulloch-Graham is joining the town hall staff as corporate director for education, social care and wellbeing, having previously worked as director of children’s services at Barnet Council.
He spent a portion of last year on secondment at the department for communities and local government advising secretary of state Eric Pickles on a programme aimed at ‘turning around’ the lives of 120,000 so-called troubled families.
Unveiling Mr McCulloch-Graham in his new role, Mayor of Tower Hamlets Lutfur Rahman said: “Robert brings valuable, additional central and local government experience to the borough.
“Robert will work with the rest of the senior management team to continue to deliver the best possible services to residents and help us to continue to achieve excellent results.”
