The latest MPs expense data for April 2015 to March 2016 has been published today - and we have created an online table of London’s MPs for you to search.

The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) data show MPs in the capital spent a total of £12.2million carrying out their constituency duties last year.

Foreign secretary and former London Mayor Boris Johnson had the lowest expense bill of London’s serving MPs at £89,469.

At the other end of the table Harrow East MP Bob Blackman had the highest total expenses bill at £184,539.

Other MPs in the top 10 were:

- Rushanara Ali, MP Bethnal Green and Bow, £182,743

- Chuka Umunna, MP Streatham, £181,254

- John Cryer, MP Leyton and Wanstead, £177,952

- Andrew Rosindell, MP Romford, £174,619

- Emily Thornberry, MP Islington South and Finsbury, £173,304

- Diane Abbott, MP Hackney North and Stoke Newington, £171,890

- Heidi Alexander, MP Lewisham East, £171,273

- Barry Gardiner, MP Brent North, £171,232

- Andy Slaughter, MP Hammersmith, £171,135

Prominent names appearing in the London data included leader of the opposition and Islington North MP Jeremy Corby, who claimed almost £10,000 less than the previous year at £148,301.

He ranked 48th of the 92 London MPs included in the expenses data.

And Mr Johnson, who won the seat of Uxbridge and South Ruislip at the last general election, is among a host of newly elected MPs who have only claimed since they took office in May 2015.

This means not all figures in the table are directly comparable.

Among the lowest spenders in London were MPs who stepped down or lost their seats in the May 2015 election as they only claimed expenses for five weeks in total.

These MPs were however entitled to “winding-up costs” for closing down their constituency offices, and former government minister and Twickenham MP Vince Cable spent the most in this category at £105,266.

Newly elected London MPs also made varying use of a start-up allowance to help them establish their constituency offices.

Mr Johnson claimed just £15, while Enfield North MP Joan Ryan spent significantly more at £6,000.

Other new MPs such as Tulip Siddiq for Hampstead and Kilburn and Keir Starmer for Holborn and St Pancras spent £867 and £76 respectively.

In total, MPs across the country claimed £113.6million in 2015-16, with more than £80million covering staffing costs.

IPSA’s Chief Executive, Marcial Boo, said: “Members of Parliament do a demanding job that is important for our democracy.

“IPSA helps them carry out their role, both in Westminster and in their constituencies, by paying their legitimate business costs within a strong regulatory framework.”

Mr Boo said spending on MPs’ security had more than doubled in the last year to £160,000.

“It is important that we take their security, and that of their families and their staff, very seriously,” he said.
