Concerns over the safety of cyclists on our roads were raised at Westminster by MP for Bethnal Green and Bow Rushanara Ali last week.
Addressing secretary of state for transport Stephen Hammond, Ms Ali asked what steps were being taken to try to reduce the number of cyclists seriously injured on our roads.
Conservative minister Mr Hammond responded that the issue was being taken seriously by the government, and that extra cash was being made available to improve the safety of London’s cyclists. Transport for London was awarded £15m in 2012 in an effort to help achieve this aim, he added.
