MPs and London Assembly Members plan to deliver a letter to Boris Johnson protesting at cuts to police numbers and closing police stations.

Front-counters at 65 police stations across London are under threat, including three in the East End at Bow Road, Poplar’s Chrisp Street Market and the Isle of Dogs, as well as cuts in local Neighbourhood teams.

The letter signed by 38 London Labour MPs including Rushanara Ali, MP for Bethnal Green & Bow, is being handed in to City Hall near Tower Bridge on Monday at 11am.

The MPs are urging the London Mayor to halt the cuts which would slice £500 million from the Met Police budget and make 1,500 officers redundant by 2015.
