AROUND 100 demonstrators have gathered outside Bethnal Green’s York Hall to protest to Labour politician Harriet Harman over the treatment of the party’s former Tower Hamlets mayoral candidate Lutfur Rahman.
Ms Harman was due to arrive at the sport’s centre in Old Ford Road at 3pm this afternoon to support current Labour mayoral candidate Helal Abbas in his campaign.
But around 100 Rahman supporters, including people expelled from the Labour Party over their support for the former council leader who is now standing as an independent in next Thursday’s mayoral elections, have gathered and are shouting slogans calling for ‘fairness’.
Ms Harman was part of Labour’s National Executive Committee which deselected Mr Rahman as the party’s mayoral candidate last month.
