COUNCIL propaganda sheets including East End Life could be facing the chop after it was announced that the plug is being pulled on Hammersmith and Fulham council’s version.

Takki Sulaiman, head of communications at Tower Hamlets council said: “We’re considering our response to the consultation on the (Government’s) draft Code of Recommended Practice on Local Authority Publicity, and welcome many of the proposals. We understand that the Government will publish the final draft in January 2011.”

Council newspapers including Tower Hamlets’ paper East End Life have long been the target of opposition politicians who think they could be scrapped to make savings and protect front line services.
