Tower Hamlets Council has been praised for the ‘outstanding’ work of its LGBT staff network.
Tower Hamlets Council has been praised for the ‘outstanding’ work of its LGBT staff network.
It is the only London council to feature in the Stonewall top 100 UK employers index this year.
2018 is the first year in which employers in the Stonewall Index must show commitment to gender identity and transgender inclusion work. In 2017 the council’s staff network hosted a pride event on trans inclusion.
Tower Hamlets mayor John Biggs, said: “I am pleased we are on a journey with Stonewall to further support communities, like the transgender community, whose voices have been hidden for too long.

The council will work with the East London Out Project to hold a series of LGBT events across the borough throughout 2018.
