THE East End’s new directly elected mayor Lutfur Rahman has this evening announced four members of his decision-making cabinet.
The four are from Mr Rahman’s group of independent councillor supporters who left the Labour party after pledging their allegiance to the executive mayor when he was himself dropped as Labour’s candidate during the election campaign.
At his first cabinet meeting as mayor at the Town Hall this evening (Thursday) Mr Rahman gave Cllr Alibor Choudhury responsibility for resources while Cllr Rabina Khan became lead member for housing, Cllr Oliur Rahman was handed the children’s services portfolio and Cllr Rania Khan became regeneration chief.
Mr Rahman told the meeting he hoped to appoint more cabinet members in due course.
