Two garden projects given the royal seal of approval in London’s East End have now led to a council housing organisation being awarded an “Excellent” level of Social Housing equality.

Judges from the Local Government Association have this week given approval to Tower Hamlets Homes for its community commitment, response to tenants and how they involve families.

They looked at projects on estates including the Teesdale family and community food gardens at Bethnal Green which Prince Charles and Camilla visited before Christmas.

“Equality is at the heart of everything we do,” said Tower Hamlets Homes Chief Gavin Cansfield. “The accreditation shows we have made huge improvements in our services for residents and staff.”

The judges found the housing organisation had good knowledge of its tenants in providing services that support diverse communities.
