TOWN Hall bosses have set up a local 'neighbourhood network' in London's deprived East End to help get people off the dole queue.

The 'network' co-ordinated by Tower Hamlets council brings together skills training agencies with firms which want to offer skilled jobs.

Training providers and employers in Mile End and Bromley-by-Bow met community organisations at the first networking event to streamline services that are aiming to get people into jobs in an area with one of the country's highest unemployment ratios.

Groups discussed their 'key priorities' during the event at Bromley-by-Bow community centre last Tuesday and how best to benefit people looking for work or training. The network has set up a 'help' line for information about training and jobs in Mile End and Bromley-by-Bow on 020-8709 9745.
