London Councils dishes out £9.4m to keep voluntary services going

PUBLISHED: 20:18 25 February 2013 | UPDATED: 20:18 25 February 2013

Voluntary groups supporting the homeless, the unemployed or victims of violence are getting cash from the London Councils to help keep them going.

The £9.4 million kitty is for services which would be difficult for individual town halls to provide on their own, including projects run by Shelter, Age Concern, Women in Prison and the Refugee Council.

These include programmes tacking homelessness, sexual and domestic violence and poverty through employment training.
