London firms on test run for 2012 Olympics

PUBLISHED: 07:00 12 April 2012

Businesses are staging a ‘test run’ to simulate stress conditions during the summer Olympics to see if anything goes wrong.

They are being encouraged to test their IT, telecommunications and transport needs over two days on May 8 and 9 to simulate conditions during London 2012 and take part in a confidential online survey.

The test is being promoted by Canary Wharf Group and Deloitte accountants working with TfL, the GLA, City Corporation, Government Olympic Executive and Financial Services Authority.

TfL’s Mark Evers said: “This gives businesses the opportunity to test their plans and identify any issues they may need to address before the Games.”

Olympic planners want to make sure London stays ‘open for business’ during the Games with employees able to get to work and use telecommunications.
