A viewer with a sweet tooth might be forgiven for thinking this piece was a snack – but a sugar cube recreation of London’s skyline is not for eating.
The astonishing artwork is on display at the Museum of London Docklands, after being commissioned to mark its 10th anniversary.
Artist Chris Naylor used more than 2,186 cubes for the piece, which weighs in at 13kg.
Exhibits at the museum, housed in one of only two remaining warehouses erected on the north quay of West India Quay by the West India Dock Company, tell the story of trade, migration and commerce.
Originally built in the 1800s by wealthy merchants and slave plantation owners, the buildings once held great cargoes of sugar, rum and coffee.
