Small firms and micro businesses in London’s Docklands and East End are being targetted to enter this year’s Lord Mayor’s Dragon Awards.
Only a handful qualify for a Dragon from Lord Mayor Alan Yarrow, but firms from last year’s shortlist also reported winning new business, improving staff relations and building long-term client reputations as a result of being finalists.
“We want east London businesses, particularly small firms, to share ‘best practice’ examples of their community involvement,” the Lord Mayor said.
“You don’t have to be a certain type of business to win a Dragon. The only criteria are community projects which make a real difference to the businesses and their communities.
“We want to recognize volunteers using their expertise and skills to secure the future of charitable activity.”
Four of last year’s six winners were small firms, the City Corporation points out. Applications for Dragon Awards are now open online.
