THE spectacular State Coach has arrived back this week for safe keeping at the Museum of London after Saturday's successful Lord Mayor's Show.
The three-tonne carriage was transported with a police escort from the Guildhall to the museum at London Wall yesterday, ready to back on public show.
Crowds in the street and traffic stopped to marvel at the dramatic sight when the coach was lifted onto specially-designed 'skates' to manoeuvre it into its resting place inside the new Galleries of Modern London opening in the spring.
The coach goes on display both inside the museum and from the street after new windows along London Wall were installed to let passers-by peep into the galleries.
