A 'LOST' East End novel is being relaunched in Bethnal Green tonight.
Alexander Baron's 1969 novel King Dido has been reissued by Five Leaves Publications and his son Nick Baron will be speaking at Bethnal Green Library about gritty East End yarns.
He will be joined by writer Ken Worpole at the free event in a discussion which starts at 7.30pm at the library in Cambridge Heath Road. The event starts at 7pm.
Hackney-born Baron was considered a major writer of the mid-twentieth century and his wartime novel From the City, From the Plough sold more than a million copies.
In King Dido he turned his attention to the low life criminals in Bethnal Green in the early 1900s and created an anti-hero in the character of Dido Peach.
