The Brisbane Road club announced their own winners last week and on Sunday the Supporters’ Club held their own Star Man awards dinner at Prince Regent Hotel

It was no surprise Macauley Bonne scooped most of the Leyton Orient end of season awards at the Supporters Club’s Star Man dinner on Sunday night.

The National League club had announced their own winners ahead of their last home fixture of the National League campaign against Maidenhead United last Tuesday (April 24) and Bonne also fared well.

He claimed Players’ Player of the Year and Player of the Year for scoring 25 times in the 2017/18 season.

Elsewhere, Orient’s Captain of the Year award went to Jobi McAnuff, who bizarrely was skipper for most of the season once Justin Edinburgh was appointed on November 29, but David Mooney, club captain, picked the winner.

McAnuff was a deserved recipient given the amount of appearances he has made and the way he has led the squad over the past five months.

The Goal of the Season award went to Ebou Adams for his stunning strike at home to Gateshead in the FA Trophy while Youth Team Player of the Year went to Ruel Sotiriou.

Sotiriou made his senior debut for Orient during the campaign and impressed throughout for Danny Webb’s academy side.

Meanwhile Young Player of the Year went to Dan Happe, who, aged 19, showed supreme consistency for O’s, especially during the difficult first few months of the term.

These 2017/18 awards were presented ahead of the game with Maidenhead, but there was more to celebrate on Sunday evening at Prince Regent Hotel in Chigwell.

The Supporters Club’s Star Man awards night kicked off with Alex Lawless being honoured with the Leyton Orient Community Trust Award for his work in the ‘Coping through Football’ programme.

Leyton Orient Women’s Player of the Year went to Sophie Le Marchand after an excellent season in the FA Women’s Premier League South East Division One.

The Supporters Club’s Away Player of the Year went to Dean Brill while Happe again claimed Young Player of the Year – this gong from the Supporters’ Club.

Goal of the Year went to David Mooney for his chip at Dover Athletic and McAnuff claimed Captain’s Award and Bonne scooped Players’ Player of the Year and Star Man as O’s finished a mixed season on a positive note.

Chairman Nigel Travis also presented one last trophy of the night and fittingly secretary Lindsey Martin was acknowledged for her hard work, especially during last season and the summer, with an Employee of the Year award.
