EAST Enders are being urged to forget resolving to lose half a stone this New Year and pledge their time to good causes instead.

The National Council for Voluntary Organisations is leading a campaign, called 'What Do You Believe In?' to encourage people to support causes they care about.

Tower Hamlets has many charities which are always on the lookout for more volunteers.

They include the 133-year-old Whitechapel Mission and the 125-year-old Toynbee Hall.

Further information about the campaign is available on www.whatdoyoubelievein.org.uk
