ASSEMBLY Member John Biggs has called on Transport bosses to make a 'dangerous' flyover safe on the A13 in East London following a road smash which left two people seriously injured.
The complex road layout at Barking's Lodge Avenue flyover combined with a lack of central reservation, sudden reduction of road width from six to four lanes means more accidents are 'waiting to happen,' he fears.
"This was a bad accident and shows that something needs to be done," he said. "Obviously reconfiguring the road layout is a long term project, but in the meantime something needs to be done."
The Assembly's City & East London member is suggesting a safety barrier or speed camera in the short-term, following last week's crash, and even replacing the flyover altogether in the long-term.
