Man arrested in raids on three east London addresses on suspicion of terrorism offence

A man is being held on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts following an operation in east London by the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command.
He was arrested late yesterday by detectives who were backed up by armed police, the Met’s Territorial Support Group and east London officers.
The 27-year-old was held on suspicion of commissioning, preparing or instigating a terrorist act, Scotland Yard has confirmed.
The arrest was carried out under the Terrorism Act and the man taken to a police station in south London where he was detained last night.
A 24-year-old woman was arrested at an address in north London as part of the same operation, on suspicion of having information about acts of terrorism. She was also detained under the Terrorism Act and held in custody at a south London police station.
Officers were also carrying out raids and searches at three east London addresses as well as the north London address where the woman was arrested.
