DETECTIVES are investigating a shooting in East London this morning (Monday) after a man was found with gunshot wounds sitting in a car.

Police were called by an ambulance crew who found the 24-year-old at 3.53am, badly wounded in a Ford Fiesta with gunshot wounds outside Beckton DLR station in Windsor Terrace, on the corner with Woolwich Manor Way.

The man was taken to hospital where his condition is understood to be serious.

But detectives don't think the man was shot where he was found.

They believe the shooting was four miles away, close of the Flex nightclub at Dagenham Leisure Park in Cooks Road, Dagenham.

Officers from the Met's Operation Trident, which investigates shootings in the Black community, are appealing for witnesses who were either in Dagenham Leisure Park or near Beckton DLR station to contact police, or call anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800-555111.

There has been no arrest at this stage.
