A police officer has been stabbed in a night-time incident close-by a pub in London’s East End.
The plain-clothes officer was attacked while on duty last night in an alley off the main Bow Road by the Bow Bells public house.
He was taken by ambulance to the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel for treatment, but his condition was not life-threatening.
A man was later arrested at the scene “on suspicion of attempted murder,” Scotland Yard confirmed last night.
A knife was recovered from the scene of the incident near the traffic lights with Fairfield Road at around 9.20pm. It was not being treated as a terrorist-related incident, police said.
The officer was stabbed trying to stop a street fight involving three men and a woman, it is understood.
