A man who beat up a woman in the street at Bow in east London in front of her young child two days after Christmas has been sentenced in court.

Saif Uddin, 27, attacked the woman who he knew after an argument in Fairfield Road.

He grabbed her by the throat and slapped her—then pushed her onto the bonnet of a parked car.

“Uddin lost his temper and lashed out at her,” Det Sgt Rob Brown said this week. “He subjecting her to a violent and sustained attack.

“His actions were compounded by a young child being present during the attack who would have been well aware of the distress caused.”

Uddin was arrested shortly after the attack on December 27 and at first denied assaulting her.

He pleading not guilty at Snaresbrook Crown Court to assault by beating, but changed his plea half-way through his trial after witnesses said they saw him grabbing her throat.

Udine, from Alexandra Park Road in Bounds Green, north London, was given a conditional discharge for 18 months last Tuesday.
