A 22-YEAR-old man from East London has appeared in court today (Friday) charged with the seaside murder of a teenager.

Mark Brewer appeared before magistrates at Colchester in Essex after detectives charged him with murdering 18-year-old Dominic Barritt, who died in hospital on Bank Holiday Monday.

Brewer spoke only to confirm his name, age and his address at Fairlop-road in Leytonstone.

He was remanded in custody until November 17 when he appears at Chelmsford Crown court.

A Post mortem revealed that Dominic, who lived with his grandparents in Little Clacton on the Essex coast, died from head injuries following an incident in the nearby resort of Walton-on-the-Naze in the early hours of Saturday morning (August 23).

He was an apprentice builder who was described by his family and friends as “a gentle giant.”
