A man is in police custody in east London tonight following Tuesday’s ‘acid attack’ incident in Bethnal Green.

The 23-year-old was arrested yesterday on suspicion of GBH with intent and is being held at an east London police station.

Officers were flagged down in Roman Road on Tuesday evening after two men in their 20s had been attacked with a noxious substance.

Both men were taken by ambulance to hospital for what was described as “life changing” injuries, but not life-threatening.

Yesterday’s arrest follows an investigation by detectives from the Met’s Trident Area and Crime Command. They are appealing for anyone with information about the Roman Road incident to call 101, tweet @MetCC or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
