A man has been jailed today for 10 years for stabbing a mourner leaving a funeral wake in London’s East End.
Khalid Ahmed, a 21-year-old from Hackney, got involved in a row with the 25-year-old mourner at the wake being held in a flat at Bonner Road in Bethnal Green, near Victoria Park, in the early hours of December 8.
The mourner went to leave the flat at 3.40am—but was followed outside by Ahmed who had taken a knife from a kitchen drawer and stabbed him several times.
Police later arrested Ahmed in the neighbourhood. His victim was taken to the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel and treated for knife wounds, but was discharged later that day.
Ahmed was sentenced today at Snaresbrook Crown Court for grievous bodily harm, after being found guilty at his trial on May 4.
