FAMILY and friends of actor Mark Blanco who plunged from a balcony during a party attended by druggie rocker Pete Doherty are raising funds for their own private investigation into his death.

Mark's mum Sheila has organised the evening at The Bloomsbury Theatre in Euston in memory of the 30-year-old who died nearly four years ago after he fell from the balcony at Paul Roundhill's flat in Romford Street, Whitechapel in December 2006.

Scotland Yard ruled out any foul play but reopened the case following a recommendation from the coroner who recorded an open verdict.

Mrs Blanco has relentlessly pursued her own personal investigation after accusing the police of not giving her son the "decent" investigation he deserves.

And she is planning to put the money she collects from the night on September 15 towards her "ongoing fight for justice".

On the night Cuban guitarist Ahmed Dickinson Cardenas will be taking to the stage and performing with Mark's sister Emma who is a professional violinist.

Graffiti Classics will also be performing and there will be an auction of books that belonged to Mark who was also an antique books dealer and part-time magician.

The night will kick-off at 7.30pm with tickets costing 22 and 19 concessions.
