A DATING’ agency is being set up to deal with the 21 million tonnes of rubbish produced in London each year—but its not all hot air.
The aim is to provide new sites for recycling and for producing energy from waste facilities.
The new brokerage service is the idea of the Waste & Recycling Board to link waste producers with site owners, local authorities and commercial organisations.

London Mayor Boris Johnson said: “This waste dating agency’ is for anyone who has ideas for getting energy from our rubbish.
“They won’t have to wade through endless bureaucracy, but get the expertise and help they need.”
City Hall is asking for expressions of interest’ from businesses by April 1 which can be emailed to the Waste & Recycling Board. The board thinks waste could generate �504m of energy a year, a 10th of London’s gas and electricity costs.
