A murder investigation has opened following a stabbing in the street in Shoreditch believed to have started with a brawl in a nightclub.
Police raced to Kingsland Road, on the corner of Waterson Street, following a 999 call early today where a 26-year-old man was found with severe knife wounds.
Paramedics from the Air Ambulance service arrived from Whitechapel and treated him at the scene, then took him to hospital in a critical condition. But he died a few hours later.
He was attacked following a night out at the Rolling Stock bar in Kingsland Road. A fight broke out which police believe spilled out onto the street when the bar closed at 6.30am.
Formal identification is being made, but his family have been informed, Scotland Yard confirmed.
A post-mortem examination is due to take place. A crime scene remains in place with temporary road closures. No arrests have been made.
A witness appeal has been started by the Met’s Homicide Command for anyone who was in the Rolling Stock Bar or in the area around 6.30am today or has information to dial 101, quoting CAD 1802/24Nov, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 (crimestoppers-uk.org/)
