Infamous TV weatherman Michael “Hurricane” Fish took to a leap of faith from a rooftop in Shadwell recently as part of a campaign to raise awareness of climate change.
Mr Fish is perhaps best known for his fateful dismissal of a storm which went on to kill 18 people along the South coast of England in 1987. However, he has since shown himself to be a keen environmental activist and in July he parachuted from a block of flats, believed to be in Hindmarsh Close off Cable Street, in a bid to raise awareness of the issue.
He said: “I decided to show that anyone can take action and change. If a 68-year-old meteorologist can do a base jump off a block of flats, surely things like riding a bike instead of driving, or buying more sustainable products at the shops can’t be so hard?”
