Commuters were treated to carol singing at Canary Wharf thanks to a charity choir.

Staff, volunteers and supporters of Mind, which helps those with mental health problems, gathered to raise funds for the charity.

They were split into two shifts, the first with 12 singers and the second with 9, and sung between 3pm and 7pm on Friday.

The choir is not professional but it has been invited by Waitrose to sing during their late night shopping evening tomorrow

This is the second year of the choir singing at Canary Wharf and they hope to beat the £500 raised last year.

Maria Healy, the community fundraising coordinator at Mind, said: “Singing is great for your mental health, so we couldn’t think of a better way to raise money for Mind than to belt out some festive tunes to get into a good yuletide mood.

“We want to thank everyone who stopped by and donated money, and we hope we helped everyone down at Canary Wharf feel a little more Christmassy this year.”
