HISTORIAN Philip Mernick will describe how East Enders wished they had a little money when there was not enough small change to make the world go around.
The local history expert from the East London History Society is giving a talk about the coins and tokens people used as currency at a talk to Friends of Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park tonight.
Although the majority of English coins were made just down the road at The Tower sometimes there was not enough small change in circulation.
The talk starts at 7.30pm at the Soanes Centre in the cemetery park at Southern Grove in Bow.
