After hitting a brace for Leyton Orient during their 3-1 triumph against Notts County last weekend, midfielder Sammy Moore is determined to help them build more momentum by beating Crawley Town tomorrow (Saturday).

The 28-year-old struck his first goals for the club against the Magpies to inspire the O’s to earn a first win since the end of August.

Ian Hendon’s side would love to make it back-to-back victories by defeating the Red Devils at Broadfield Stadium this weekend, but Moore expects a tough match.

Although Crawley are 21st in the League Two table with only nine points from their opening 11 matches, Orient are not underestimating them.

Moore: “It would be a massive three points and we want to make sure we carry on the victory against Notts County. We have been good away, apart from Exeter City, so we are really looking forward to it.

“We know they are struggling a little bit, but in this league any team can beat anybody so we need to make sure we are on our toes and we go there and give it a real good go.”

The fitness of the O’s midfielder may have been something of a concern for Hendon and co when he appeared to injury his knee against County last weekend.

But Moore was able to continue and then capped a fine performance by rifling home his second of the afternoon from 30-yards-out to seal three points.

He added: “It was one of them knocks, I felt my knee jar in and out and maybe I have torn a few fibres, but it is not the worst case scenario.

“The physio said run it off and see how you get on and I managed to do that, I didn’t feel it.

“It was a little bit achy after the game, but I wanted to get through the 90 minutes because it was important I was out there and I scored so it was even better.”

The former AFC Wimbledon man has impressed since signing for the east Londoners during the summer, making 13 appearances for Hendon’s team in all competitions.

He has normally lined up in a diamond formation, something the Orient boss has favoured since the start of the season.

But the O’s have frequently switched to a flat 4-4-2 in the second half of matches with Blair Turgott coming off the bench.

“I like the diamond and the 4-4-2, but it is not really about systems - it is about one to 11 putting a real good shift in and we can play many systems,” insisted Moore.

“We have got the players to do that so it is a string to our bow. We played a diamond against Notts County and changed it, going to a 4-4-2 and it’s worked.

“That is what we can do. We are really looking forward to Crawley now, away from home so we need to keep it tight and hopefully we get three points.”
