A new NHS health centre is being formally opened in London’s East End today—five months after the first patients walked through the door.

The ribbon is being officially spliced at 6pm by MP Jim Fitzpatrick at the Newby Place clinic in his Poplar & Limehouse constituency.

The centre off Poplar High Street, in the shadow of Canary Wharf, opened to patients in June, with a wide-range of health and community services brought together for the first time under one roof.

It has two GP practices open for appointments 8am to 8pm Monday-to-Saturday, as well as audiology, foot health, district nursing, health visiting, mental health, psychology, diabetes, midwifery, sexual health, children’s speech, language therapy and adult community nursing services.
