Bethnal Green and Bow MP Rushanara Ali MP saw firsthand the support local jobseekers in her constituency are getting to find jobs and stay in work.

The Labour MP was keen to see the work being done to help individuals on the Work Programme, which is being delivered in the constituency by public service provider A4e for the Department for Work and Pensions.

She chatted to staff during the visit to the A4e offices in Hackney Road and, as an associate director of social innovation charity The Young Foundation, which works with marginalised young people, was particularly interested in A4e’s work with offenders to get them into jobs and help break the cycle of re-offending.

The Work Programme, now in its third year of operation, provides tailored support for unemployed customers who need more help to undertake active and effective job-seeking.

Andrew Moore, local business leader of A4e said: “We are really proud of the work we are doing and the people we and are helping.

“It was a very positive visit and a great chance for some of the job-seekers we support to speak directly to their local representative about their experiences.”
