A MUM-of-four who got on her bike in her fight against swine flu has raised thousands of pounds for charity.
With predictions that a swine flu pandemic could be on its way this autumn and breastfeeding could be a good way to help babies fight it, Claire Davis decided to raise funds for the Breastfeeding Network.
The 39-year-old, who works as a Breastfeeding Advisor for Tower Hamlets NHS and lives in Bow, cycled 300km from London to Amsterdam at the weekend with her friend Jo Naylor.
Claire said: "We really enjoyed the whole experience. The only downside being that lots of the villages are entirely cobbled, which made us long for our next comfort stop."
She hopes to have raised �5,000 for the Breastfeeding Network which provides parents with independent support and information about infant feeding.
Health experts say babies who are breastfeed are able to fight infection better than newborns who are formula-fed, as mums' antibodies pass through their breastmilk to help the baby fight infections.
