Museum of London Docklands set to celebrate British seafood

Jellied eels, oyster, scallops and much more are up for discussion at an evening celebrating the history of British seafood.

The Museum of London Docklands is hosting the event, which will combine poetry, talks and music.

There will also be a knife skills workshop led by a Billingsgate fishmonger and chef CJ Jackson of the Billingsgate Seafood School.

The event, dubbed ‘Cockles and Mussels @ Late’ coincides with the museum’s 10th anniversary.

The birthday won’t go unnoticed, with a champagne and oyster bar available for those feeling particularly extravagant.

Talks at the evening will broach subjects including “Taste, Class and the History of British Seafood”, delivered by Goldsmiths College’s urban sociologist Dr Alex Rhys Taylor.

There is also set to be music on offer from Mercury Prize-nominated Sam Lee & the Nest Collective.
