Leyton Orient manager Justin Edinburgh is keen to finish the season strong and take momentum into next season.

The O’s play their final home match of the National League campaign when they host Maidenhead United this evening (7.45pm) at Brisbane Road.

Edinburgh’s men currently sit 13th in the table just behind their opponents The Magpies going into the clash.

“The highest we can finish is 12th and that’s our aim,” he said.

“I guess if you would have offered me that when I first walked through the door after having my first game at Solihull I think I would have snapped your hand off for that but credit to the players I think they’ve been excellent for me since day one.

“Momentum now going into next season is what it’s about, it would be easy for the players to switch off and perhaps go through the motions, but that certainly hasn’t been allowed from them demanding that of each other in the dressing room.”

The former Northampton Town boss wants to wrap the campaign up with four consecutive home victories.

“I think you’ve got to bare in mind the home form here over the last couple of seasons has been poor and that will creep into the crowd but I can feel less anxiety around the stadium when we come here now on match day.

“We will look to continue that on our last home game and that will make it four consecutive victories and that’s our aim now.”

Edinburgh also believes the club has everything going for it and that the fans will play a huge part of fulfilling that.

“It’s a juggernaut waiting to go if we can get this on track.

“I get excited thinking of what this could be like this stadium if we get some momentum into next year and achieve what we look to do.

“Our fans have got a huge part to play as they have done since I walked through the door.

“I said if we’re going to achieve anything we must do it together.”
