The Australian, who was an academy coach at West Ham United last year, was disappointed with the weekend loss at Brisbane Road

Woking boss Anthony Limbrick admitted Saturday ended up being a very bad day for his team after they suffered a 3-0 National League loss at Leyton Orient.

The Cards were level on points with the east Londoners on 44 heading into the clash at Brisbane Road last weekend.

A quick-fire brace from Macauley Bonne, the second via the penalty spot, put Justin Edinburgh’s team in control though, and James Brophy added a third late on to put the icing on the cake for the hosts.

“We knew we needed to make changes at half time to try and get back into it and we tried to be positive at 2-0 down,” said Limbrick.

“But we can talk about the changes and tactics and everyone else, but we didn’t score during that period (after half time) to make it 2-1 and if that had been the case I think they would have got nervy and edgy.

“We tried to make another positive sub soon after and we went with two up top, but unfortunately Regan (Charles-Cook) got injured and we had to play for a while with 10-men and that was when we conceded the third.

“All in all when you are playing a team on the same points as you, in and around you in the table, and you lose 3-0 it is a bad, bad day.”

Limbrick’s side did nearly take the lead at Brisbane Road with eight minutes on the clock when Jason Banton’s curling effort struck the crossbar.

Less than 120 seconds and Orient had made them pay when Dan Holman won the ball from Cards captain Joey Jones and Bonne fired home at the second attempt.

It was 2-0 with 17 minutes gone when the dangerous Brophy was fouled by Jones and referee Savvas Yianni pointed to the spot.

Bonne stepped up and sent Nathan Baxter the wrong way and it was always going to be an uphill battle for Woking from then onwards.

“We hit the crossbar early on from a really good move and our game plan was to try and keep them quiet and not give them anything,” said Limbrick.

“They had a great crowd and we had big support from our fans, but when we give away goals it is just absolutely not good enough.

“I feel like I am saying the same thing every week and we cannot be in the same situation again. It is two terrible mistakes from us that gave away two goals.

“They weren’t even playing that well, but the fact we have gave them two goals gave them a platform to go and get into the game.

“They haven’t won here since December and we gave them two goals inside the first 17 minutes and it is very frustrating from a manager and coaching staff point of view.”

Orient are now three points and four places ahead of Woking now with seven fixtures still to play this season.
