National Rail trains from Liverpool Street have been cancelled after a man was killed by a train at Seven Kings station in Redbridge.
British Transport Police said the man was struck by a train at about 9.30am and pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.
All trains on the Greater Anglia line from Liverpool Street into Essex are cancelled until the track reopens.
A BTP spokesman said: “The incident is currently being treated as non-suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the identity of the man and inform his family.”
Commuters on their way to work and families going on trips during half term were turned away from the station, which was shut off by police.
