ARTS and crafts from Nepal were showcased at a fair at Spitalfields Market this weekend.

Artists worked on traditional looms and spinning mills and visitors had a chance to try their hand at Nepalese rug making and creating figures made out of Nepalese hand-made paper.

Visitors could also enjoy a taste of Nepalese food and enjoy folk music and dance performances.

The fair was organised by Khabindra Khadga, a regular trader at Spitalfields Market, whose family set up the Kumbeshwar Technical School, www.kumbeshwar.com, to provide educational and vocational training to the most impoverished group of people in Kumbeshwar, in Kathmandu.

Pupils from Bow Boys School designed their own rugs for a competition in the run up to the event and their designs were also on sale at the fair and at www.comolongmo.com.
