A Tower Hamlets school is to receive a new £36,000 minibus after the money was raised by a sports disability charity.
Pupils and teachers at Cherry Trees School, Campbell Road, were given the keys to a 17 seater bus by comedian Jenny Éclair today (Monday) alongside members of the Lord’s Taverners charity and representatives of supermarket Waitrose.
Cherry Trees helps children with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties, with their learning and prepares them to reintegrate back into mainstream school.
Fundraising schemes such a 60-person skydive, support from the Royal Parks half marathon and a £1,000 donation from the Waitrose’s community matters scheme helped achieve the amount needed.
The Lord’s Taverners, the UK’s leading youth cricket and disability sports charity, donates one minibus every ten days to organisations such as Cherry Tree.
