POLICE are renewing their appeals for information about the suspected murder of East London restaurant worker Mahmood Ahmad exactly three months after his kidnap.

The 41-year-old waiter was abducted outside his home in the early hours of March 7 after finishing work at the Lahore Kebab House at Umberston Street in Whitechapel. His severed thumb was later found in Ilford on March 10.

Five men have been charged with his murder and other offences following his disappearance outside his address at Watford in Hertfordshire. Two women have also been charged with related offences.

Herts Police have now released a photograph of Mahmood and his wife Farah, taken at a family friend’s wedding at Pendley Manor in Tring in October.

Det Chief Ins Melanie Burn, of Beds & Herts Major Crime unit, said: “Three months on and the pain of not knowing what has happened to their beloved husband, son, father and friend is still just as strong for Mahmood’s family.

“We are hoping releasing these images will help people see Mahmood as a much-loved family man who was central to his family and very much missed.”

Detectives are hoping the picture prompts anyone who has information to come forward and “help end his family’s agony.”

A blue old-style Honda Civic believed to have been used in the kidnap, registration V369 GUP, an automatic five-door saloon with alloy wheels, still hasn’t been traced.

Witnesses to the March 7 incident in Watford or anyone with information are being urged to call the incident room on 01707-355798, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555111.
