A new boss for London’s ‘super tube’ line now under construction has been announced by Crossrail.

Andrew Wolstenholme has been appointed chief executive to take over from Rob Holden who steps down in July.

He was project director at one time for the 4 billion Terminal 5 at Heathrow Airport, which will have a direct link to the City and East London when Crossrail opens in 2018.

Andrew gets his feet under the table with less than 12 months before tunnelling starts from Canary Wharf and Whitechapel to Paddington, taking charge of a 14,000 workforce.

His role also includes leaving a ‘skills’ legacy of training 3,500 workers at East London’s new Tunnelling & Underground Construction Academy.
