NEW technology is being used by cops in a crackdown on drink-drivers and drug-users.
Sophisticated electronic scanners have been introduced this week by traffic police in London which are capable of specific sensitive readings when suspects are asked to take a breath-test.
The portable devices also record data such as a person’s age and the location where the breath-test is carried out, to help build up a profile of offenders in the future.
It is the first campaign where the electronic gadgetry is being used by all officers from the Met Police traffic unit who this week began stepping up roadside breath-tests. The scanners also test for drugs.
