A crackdown on domestic violence is set to take place in Tower Hamlets with an innovative scheme that will see a number of different services working together to tackle the problem.

The Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) Plan will consolidate work done by various agencies, such as charities, and Tower Hamlets Council to create a smoother process for victims.

A newly appointed VAWG strategy manager has been appointed to make sure the various teams work together.

Cllr Ohid Ahmed, deputy mayor of Tower Hamlets, said: “I take pride in Tower Hamlets being a place where people can live and visit free from fear, intimidation and attack. It is crucial to raise awareness of violence against women and girls and ensure everybody takes responsibility for tackling crimes of this nature.”
