The new look of London’s only air ambulance was unveiled earlier today as it landed on top of the Royal London Hospital.
It’s tail will now carry changing messages such as the number of critical missions attended by the trauma team, currently 28,502.
London’s Air Ambulance wants to highlight that it is a charity and break the myth that it is funded by the NHS. It also comes after Richard Branson’s Virgin ended its sponsorship deal with the helicopter. Instead the service hopes to attract more sponsors and it is committed to carrying the names of four sponsors at a time.
Chief executive officer Graham Hodgkin, said: “Despite our extraordinary lifesaving work and prestigious reputation for medical excellence throughout the world, our charity remains relatively unknown within the city in which we operate.”
