A SQUAD of 11 new soccer refs are ready to taken to the field—even though the football season is over.

They’re raring to go after qualifying from a nine-week training course in East London, to take charge of non-league matches next season.

The wannabe refs passed a written theory exam and now have to take on the practical element, refereeing six matches with the support of a mentor.

Then they hope to score by getting their FA referees’ certificate.

The course part-funded by Tower Hamlets Sports Council is one of several projects aimed at improving football participation for youngsters in the East End.
