Leyton Orient midfielder Nigel Atangana has admitted they need to find a way to get results at Brisbane Road.

The O’s conceded twice after the break against Hartlepool United yesterday (Monday) to suffer a 2-0 defeat in League Two.

It is the fourth time they’ve been beaten at home since Kevin Nolan took over and it wasn’t the most happiest of places for previous boss Ian Hendon either.

Since the former West Ham United captain was appointed in January, most of his impressive results have been on the road.

And goals from Billy Paynter and Nathan Thomas ensured the Pools beat Orient in front of a crowd of 5,543 yesterday.

“It’s true we are inconsistent at home, it could be a problem because if we want to get promoted or get through in the play-offs we need to win here,” said Atangana.

“At the moment we do a really good performance away, but we lose at Brisbane Road. We need to stay focused, keep working hard and keep believing and I’m sure the next game at home we will win.”

The Easter weekend brought O’s little reward with a 1-0 loss at Accrington Stanley on Good Friday followed by the Hartlepool defeat.

Jobi McAnuff and Calaum Jahraldo-Martin missed both fixtures because they are away on international duty.

But the ex-Portsmouth ace refused to use that as an excuses for losing at home.

“Obviously Jobi and Calaum are both good players, but we have a great squad and we are all good,” added Atangana.

“I can’t say ‘yes we missed them and that’s why we lost’ because we are all good. But we haven’t done the right things against Hartlepool and we need to make sure next Saturday we do.”

The O’s make the trip to York City this weekend and will be aiming to move back into the play-off positions.

After losing twice over Easter, Wycombe Wanderers have moved up to seventh place in the League Two table.

Nolan’s men only trail them by two points, though, and Atangana is remaining positive.

He added: “We’ve lost the last two and it has been tough, but we are still just two points behind the play-offs and it is nothing.

“We have seven games left and you never know what will happen now. We are disappointed about the Hartlepool result, but we need to stay focused and not start thinking about negative things - we need to keep going.”
